The Ultrasonic Testing Instrument with Crack Depth Measurements under the trade name TICO uses ultrasonic pulse velocity method to determine material strength and quality, used on the relationship to material density and elasticity. Using this ultrasonic method, the instrument determines, indirectly, the modulus of elasticity and concrete strength. The instrument is typically used on site to assess uniformity of concrete ad to locate cracks, voids, cavities and defects due to fire and frost. The Ultrasonic Testing Instrument uses transducers as transmitters and receivers to calculate pulse velocity by measuring transmission time. The flexible unit can measure via direct transmission, semi-direct transmission, indirect or surface transmission to accommodate the demands of virtually any test site.
