Hardcastle & Waud Mfg Co Ltd. Manufactures and supplies Penta Erithrytol Ester of Rosin, BIOLAC 1402. The Penta Erithrytol Ester of Rosin is a hard melting rosin ester, yielding fast drying varnishes with medium to low viscosities from linseed oils. The Penta Erithrytol Ester of Rosin is very stable resin and resists oxidation much better than the analogous glyceryl ester. It gives varnishes of higher initial gloss because of its high refractive index. The Penta Erithrytol Ester of Rosin has a gloss retention property and has great versatility. The Penta Erithrytol Ester of Rosin has also poor compatibility with Nitro cellulose and Ethyl cellulose. It is incompatible with Cellulose acetate. This Penta Erithrytol Ester of Rosin can be used with softer oils like soyabean oil, sunflower oils and tobacco seed oil, to give vehicles of good water resistance and pale color. It is well-matched with blown linseed.
