Chloramphenicol Injection is used for:

• Acute infections caused by S typhi. It is not recommended for the routine treatment of the typhoid carrier state.

• Serious infections caused by susceptible strains in accordance with the concepts expressed above.

• Salmonella species

• H influenza, specifically meningeal infections.

• Rickettsia.

• Lymphogranuloma-psittacosis group.

• Various gram-negative bacteria causing Bacteraemia, meningitis etc.

• Cystic fibrosis regimens: In the treatment of typhoid fever.
