Acrinathrin is a unique pyrethroid being the only pyrethroid possessing the chemical structure in a cis-configuration around the double bond. It`s also the only pyrethroid with a carboxylic ester moiety in the vinyl-part of the acid.
Natural pyrethrins are a mixture of six esters derived from combinations of chrysanthemic acid, pyrethric acid and three alcohols. Acrinathrin differs from other pyrethroids in being the only representative of norpyrethric esters. Acrinathrin consists of a single isomer - the most biologically active of all 16 potential isomers.
