2hi hot rolling mills are designed for thicker slabs of copper / brass / aluminium alloys and can take in a thickness of upto 150 mm. The rolls are made of forged alloy steel having medium hardness. The rolls run on fiber bearings fitted in the chocks. The drive to the rolls is given through a combination of heavy duty gear box - pinion stand - universal coupling spindle assembly. The gear box is a two-stage reduction unit having helical gears fitted in robust mild steel fabricated body. The roll lifting is through a combination of hydraulic cylinders and accumulator.
