Coldbank series refrigeration air dryers from trident pneumatics provides a highly energy efficient drying system. Refrigeration dryers work on the principle of thermal mass energy storage. Salient features include: thermal mass and heat exchanger; energy saving; timer-controlled condensate drains; low pressure drop; suitable for hot climates; few moving parts; no pressure vessel approval required; and high working pressures. In this design, the refrigeration load from the refrigeration compressor is transferred fully to a thermal mass. When the thermal mass achieves the required temperature, the compressor is cutoff. The compressed air flows through a heat exchanger kept inside the thermal mass. The compressed air gets chilled to the thermal mass temperature. Heat energy only in proportion to the compressed air quantity and temperature is transferred from the cold thermal mass. The balance is stored in the thermal mass itself. This results in energy saving when ambient condition and inlet air temperature are low.
