Bhatia engg co has introduced self-cleaning strainers that continuously remove suspended particles from all types of liquids. They are useful in industrial plants that use river, lake, well or sea water for cooling, descaling, bearing, lubrication, spraying, quenching, etc. Liquids other than water, like chemicals, acids, white water [paper mills] sewage and ammonia flushing liquor [coke plants] can also be strained. They can be installed on the discharge side of a pump or in any piping system operating under a positive pressure. It requires minimum 1.5 kg/cm2 working pressure to effectively clean the straining media. The strainer housing contains a cylindrical drum rotating on a bearing. This drum contains as ss filtering screen, which is fixed in position by an ss thrust plate. The outer housing includes two sets of wipe blades placed diametrically opposite each other. These are fixed at 90° to the inlet and outlet and are spring loaded. The wipe blades covers contain backwash outlet connection with a manual/motor operated valve for discharging dirt into the sewer. A drive unit rotates the drum. This drum is provided with a handle for manual rotation in case of power failure. Pipe line sizes are available from 50 to 1,200 mm to meet the requirements.
