Retro-Reflective Sensor transmits a pulsed infrared beam which is reflected back from a reflector. The Sensor switches when the light beam is interrupted. The Sensor has emitter and receiver in the same housing. The Retro-Reflective Sensor finds application in height detection of stacked objects and control of randomly positioned objects on a conveyor.
