Gel engineering [india] introduces custom-built spray painting systems for automatic spray painting of shells. The shells are of two different diameter and length, consisting of rotating drum with turntable at the top fitted with 40 stations of shell holding fixtures, which revolves on their own axis in addition to their rotation around the axis of the table. The electric motor drives the turntable by electric motor with variator to vary speed of turntable from 0.1 to 1 rpm and job rotation from 10 to 100 rpm. Automatic spray guns are fixed on the reciprocator with vertical up/ down and to and fro motion for uniform coating of paint all over the shells. The reciprocator movement is through hydraulic power pack for smooth movement without jerking and stroke adjustment is through proximity switches. Paint is supplied from pressure feed containers. Over sprayed paint is extracted through dry back spray booth, as a special case all electrical items are flameproof. Production rate is 2000 shells per eight hours shift.
