Emco dynatorq manufactures brake motors for various applications where instantaneous stopping of the driven load is required. These brake motors are available with salient features such as simple construction and installation; brake with dust protection and manual release; adjustable dc type 14.458 brake torque; simple wear adjustment of brake; high operational frequency and reliability; low brake rotor inertia; all metal parts protected from rust; and brake coil with class f insulation. The brake has `fail safe type` operation that is normally on and applied when the power to the motor is switched off or in case power failure occurs. Brake motor supplied by the company is a combination of an ac induction motor and an electro-magnetic ac or dc brake. The em brake is mounted on the non-driving end of the motor and a cooling fan mounted after the brake for good heat dissipation and cooling of the brake and motor as well. The company also supplies motors with dc brake where the rectifier is provided near terminal box to convert ac supply into dc for brake coils. Brake motors with dc brake are supplied with 190 v dc coil operating voltage as well as other voltages are provided on request. These brake motors are available with operation as when power is off the brake torque is provided by compression spring developing it against mounting flange. When the power supply is given to the brake coil, the magnetic field produced by it pulls the armature plate against spring force over the air gap towards the stator and the rotor rotates freely. The armature plate is attracted towards stator and returning it to original position instantly ensures fail-safe operation in case of power failure. Brake motors with ac side interruption is used in certain applications where total load stopping time is not very critical, and dc side interruption is used in applications where faster stopping is necessary. The company supplies these brake motors with ac side interruption.
