Cooling concept supplies cooling towers. These cooling towers are based on the principle of venturi. Unlike natural draught, these cooling towers do not depend on nature or wind velocity and they do not have any louvers. Process industries have already adopted the venturi effect for several gas-liquid systems, like scrubbers, absorption towers, aeration, etc, with very better results. Being gas [air] and liquid [water] systems, these cooling towers also require creation of air current and effective mixing with water with large contact heat-mass transfer area. Working of these cooling towers is given by: in these cooling towers, large antities of air is induced into the towers by cooling jets as it is injected through spray nozzles at the top of the vertical venturi plenum. No fans are utilised in this design. Eveaporative heat transfer to take place without the packing material is allowed by an effective missing of air and water in the plenum. Cooling water collected in the sump is pumped through the cooling water circuit for return cycle. The venturi cooling towers have benefits of both type of cooling towers fan type and natural draught.
