Sprint electric ltd, u.K., has introduced the extension of its sl/slx 3-phase, 2- and 4-quadrant dc drive range to include models up to 115 kw at 460 v dc armature. There are three new models above 50 kw now available. These consist of sl/slx65 [155 amps], the sl/slx 85 [205 amps] and the sl/slx 115 [270 amps]. The drives are designed to suit european and north american standards and are suitable for retrofitting on existing dc applications in addition to being a useful space saver on new machines. They incorporate a compact size dc thyristor controller with a foot print of only 410 mm x 204 mm, and a depth of 187 mm. Competitively priced, these new drives are suitable for a wide range of power supplies from 200 v to 480 v, 3 phase 45 hz and can be used in the majority of countries throughout the world. On-board features include a fully regulated field bridge, which can be switched to give constant field current for accurate armature voltage feedback or automatic field weakening for extended speed control. Push-buttons or an external voltage signal controls the shaft direction. These versatile drives can be configured to any application through a comprehensive system of extra inputs and outputs whilst on-board presets provide control over all the important speed, current and voltage variables, etc.
