Fine grain slate from the excavation is hard weaving, impervious, resistant to atmosphere pollution, frost, normal heat and rapid temperature charges, the slate is characterized as fairly hard. The hard-wearing waterproof and rot proof properties of the slate make it ideally suited for a whole host of external and internal features and application are virtually endless, being limited only by the designers imagination. Fireplace surrounds and hearths, worktops, breakfast bare and internal fountains, wall facing, chimneys, barbecues, garden walls and steps, are just some of the ways in which stones and slates have been and are being used.
