Offered by transducers and allied products the dc injection braking control is an attractive invention. These are used to bring squirrel cage induction motors to a stand still within a very short time after de-energising. The braking effect is gained by the application of an adjustable dc current to the stator coil of the 3-phase motors. The braking current and braking time are adjustable to suit specific application. Its areas of application include: conveyers, material handling equipment, machine tools, etc. The advantages are: rated braking current - l0 a; reduces free running times; no wear or maintenance; retro fitting possible without any mechanical modification to the machines; adjustable braking torque from zero to maximum.
