Ieec offers a new temperature controller. This hot run time based phase angle regulated temperature controller is suitable for controlling temperature of cartridge heaters or spiral heaters with in-built thermocouple, which are generally used for hot runner. As sudden application of high voltage can damage heaters, to avoid failure and to have a long life of heater, voltage is applied very slowly from 0 to 180 v. It is practically observed that in this type of heaters, rate of rise of temperature is very high, so voltage is applied to the heater with ramp time of up to 10 minutes. Rate of rise of temperature is controlled to one degree celsius per second approximately and this way initial temperature overshoot is minimised. This unique electronic circuit arrangement continuously monitors difference between actual temperature and set temperatures and automatically adjusts the rate of rise of temperature and maintains actual temperature closer to the set value. The ieec solid-state thyristorised time based phase angle controlled temperature indicating controllers with high controlling accuracy are available in compact enclosures. No external contactors [for heating control] are necessary, as thyristors directly handle and control the power supplied to the heaters. Latest integrated circuit technology has been used to achieve the high reliability and compactness in size. The digital indication of the actual temperature is shown by a common three-digit 0.5" high red led seven-segment display. A thumbwheel psb 10 is provided to set the temperature required. Thermocouple break protection with led indication and cold junction compensation are provided as standard. Now hot runner performance can be computed with long life of the heater and precise control of the temperature with energy saving. User areas include: hot runner; t die heating for cast line process such as cast film/ bopp/pet/extrusion coating; hot air oven/hot plate for slit film/nylon monofilament; injection moulding/blow moulding/ roto moulding; infrared heating control; and for any temperature sensitive polymer.
