Hi-rel electronics pvt ltd in collaboration with vacon plc, finland offers the vacon nx range of variable frequency drives that decreases the use of energy in industry and in civil engineering. The converter controls the speed of the standard asynchronous motor steplessly and adapts the power drawn to the process requirements using a synchronous motors that consume about 70 per cent of all electrical energy used in industry. With the new idea of the vacon, two types of control units are available and separated from the power unit and the performance of the standard sensorless vector control unit is sufficient for most commonly used applications. A closed loop vector control unit with servo performance is available for more demanding applications and typical applications include sectional derives, cranes, lifts as well as systems where several drives must operate closely together or where precise control of speed and torque at speeds close to zero is required and the i/o configuration is designed with modularity in mind and is comprised of option cards, each with its own input and output configuration. The control module is designed to accept a total of five of these cards and vacon nx product family has two members, the nxs and the nxp. Vacon nxs is the basic model, suitable for the vast majority of applications. For all applications requiring a high degree of precision in the control of torque or speed, the nxp is used. Both the hardware and the software of the nx have been designed in modules-giving a high degree of flexibility in various applications and the mechanical design of the product makes it fit into any machine and all requirements concerning emc are naturally fulfilled.
