They are heat treaded and hardened. All mating parts are precision ground. These joints are offered in j01 to j15 single; dj01 to dj15 off-the-shelf. Although they operate at angles up to 35, universal joints should not operate more than 15 angularity for maximum efficiency. The universal joints are recommended for slow speed operation and high torque. Loads and speeds should be reduced as the operating angularity is increased. For larger angularities, two universal joints can be used with a common connecting shaft between. Care should be taken to ensure the pins in each hub mounted on the same shaft are parallel to each other.
