Marsap provides basic instruments; some of them can be used in the field as well, like a pour point analyzer and a salt in crude analyzer. However, one of the most interesting products is the b/r instruments spinning band distillation system. Normally, crude characterization is done by astm methods d 2892 or d 5236. The instruments involved in these methods need lot of space, utilities and service backup and are not suited for remote location. The b/r 36-100 and 9400 spinning band distillation systems provide an alternative, at a fraction of the cost of the traditional systems, and yet provide more accurate data to enable the crude producer to get a better price and the refiner to get a better yield. Marsap also have a methanol specific process analyzer made by pac antek in their range for measurement of methanol used as a hydrate inhibitor used in crude oil production. This instrument is also useful in the natural gas industry, where methanol is added to prevent hydration of the hydrocarbon.
