These wound filter cartridges are available with features of chemical compatibility with many different fluids and also have excellent resistance to microorganisms. The glass fiber wound filter cartridges are useful for removing oil traces by heat-treating, yielding virgin glass fiber and high temperature and high corrosion applications. This gps glass fiber wound cartridges offer the advantages of depth filtration through hundreds of tapered filtering passages of controlled size and shape. The diagonal winding of roving on a center core of the glass fiber wound filter cartridges makes a firm interlocking weave resulting in preventing channeling and by passing, and greatly reduce fiber migration. As the glass fiber wound filter cartridges are wound, each layer of roving is napped to increase filtration capabilities giving the depth filtration by trapping its share of particles. The irregular outer surface of the glass fiber wound filter cartridges helps preventing the surface blinding and assures longer cartridge life and full cartridge utilization. The glass fiber wound cartridges provide a pressure increase during cartridge life versus surface-type media that have an abrupt flow cut-off when loaded.
