Hindustan radiators and heat exchangers has introduced fire & rodent protective cable coating, rs9odf. It is a state-of-the-art new concept coating compound. It is specially formulated asbestos free, reinforced in tumescent fire retardant coating, designed primarily for use on electrical, communication and data cables, and they are supporting horizontal and vertical trays, where it is necessary to increase their fire endurance time. When exposed to fire or high heat, the coating puffs up [intumesces] and forms a protective thick, dense foam fire barrier that shields the cables and trays. Thus it retards the penetration of heat and propagation of flames. It avoids the propagation of fire along the surface, therefore confining the fire and minimizing damages. It protects the substrate from heat penetration during a fire, retarding structural failure and short-circuiting of grouped cables. When applied on electrical, control and communication cables, the coating greatly reduces the deadly smoke generated during fire, reducing smoke damage and possible loss of life. It is rodent, termite and vermin proof.
