Marshall industries manufactures plc controlled auto hydraulic multi-spindle drilling cum tapping or reaming machines with fully automatic feed and job clamping facilities. The job is hydraulically clamped on a special fixture mounted on a shuttle type automatic job transferring system. After the job is loaded and clamped, the automatic cycle is started. At station 1 the drilling cycle consists of rapid approach, drilling feed, rapid return and auto stop. The job is now automatically transferred to station 2 where the tapping/reaming cycle is completed. The job is now automatically transferred back to station 1 and unclamped. The machines are provided with several safety features which include starting of cycle only after the job is clamped. Other features include: six speeds available in the gearbox driving the multi-spindle head; centralised lubrication system; and anti-friction [turcite ® b] lining on slideways. These machines are ideally suited for high production jobs requiring accuracy of drilled cum tapped/reamed holes. Some of the jobs done on these machines include flanges, differential castings, fan bodies, and auto parts.
