Marshall industries have added a number of new features to all models of their gautam heavy duty all geared capstan lathes. These include a very rigid single piece ci base with in-built coolant tank; heavier ribbing on beds; antifriction [turcite ®-b] lining on main saddle and turret slide for smoother movement and longer life; improved wipers for saddle and turret slide; centralized lubrication to turret feedbox and slide. The capstans are most suitable for machining medium to large batches of components requiring accuracy as well as heavy rate of metal removal. They are able to do bar work and also machine castings/forgings held in chucks. They are also suitable for premachine large volumes of jobs at very low cost prior to finish machining on cnc lathes. Model g-4d has specifications similar to herbert no 4, but is very economically priced. In addition two other models, gs 50 and gs 36, [with 50 mm and 36 mm bar capacities] are offered. Heavier versions with larger swing over bed and higher power for machining large castings and forgings can be supplied as per customer requirements. All these models are supplied with multiplate mechanical friction clutch in headstock to enable shifting of spindle speeds without stopping the machine, and provide overload and accident protection. Electromagnetic clutches in headstock can also be provided for higher productivity. The company also manufactures a wide range of other high quality machine tools.
