It is one of the most versatile solvents, capable of dissolving a wide range of substances. Its outstanding solvent properties are used by the surface coating, printing ink, plastic processing, resin industries and lubricating oil de-waxing in the refineries. Methyl ethyl ketone is miscible with most organic solvents and owing to the high reactivity of the carbonyl group, it is used as an intermediate in a number of chemical products, such as aroma chemicals.
