• The absorbent liquor is distributed uniformly by the distributor
• The absorbent forms a thin uniform film along the curved wall of holes of the top block, while flowing down to the next block.
• Between the top bock and the next block, the absorbent is again redistributed to create maximum wet surface area of contact between the film and the HCl vapor.
• The highly turbulent gas impinges with great energy on the absorbent film, to give better absorption efficiency.
• Simultaneous passage of cooling water across the hole wall removes the heat of absorption and does not allow excessive build up of temperature. Thus desorption is minimized.
