Technicast Engineers Ltd manufactures Grey Cast Iron Bars through continuous casting process. Presently these Continuous Cast Iron [CCI] Bars are being manufactured in uniform cross sections of rounds, squares, rectangles, half rounds; in economically long lengths. These bars have excellent metallurgical superiority over the conventional sand cast iron. The casting is carried out through a water-cooled graphite die under metallic pressure. A computerised machine controls the withdrawal rate of the bar. . This advanced casting technology forms excellent, homogeneous metal with close grain structure and free from sand inclusions, blow holes, pin holes, etc. That are normally prevalent in the conventional sand casting practice. Favorable properties and economics in using CCI bars are the basis of the extensive use of this material all over the world. The fine grain structure and well-dispersed graphite impart CCI bars excellent machinability. The machining speeds can be increased by 20%. The long bars are useful for continuous feeding on automatic lathes to improve the productivity of the lathe. This has also resulted in improved tool life and reduction in machining cost. The conventional castings may not be suitable for many of the applications due to non-consistence and homogeneity. Moreover, they are prone to the usual defects of sand inclusions, blowholes, pin holes, shrinkage, etc. Due to these drawbacks, engineering industry particularly the hydraulic and pneumatic industry, often tend to specify higher grade material and therefore, costlier in goods than necessary. Absence of such kind of defects in the Technicast Barsmakes them more reliable and preferred material by many of the industries. Technicast Bars in various sections find wide applications in many industries such as machine tool, textile machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic, glass bottle, printing machinery, and vacuum pump industry. The general engineering industry includes numerous applications like gears, bushes and pulleys, manufactured on a mass production basis. In the case of mechanical power transmission, some of the components made are taper bushes, pulleys and gears. Generally Technicast Bars come off the shelf in a large number of sizes starting from dia 30 up to dia 270 mm, square up to 115 mm and some sections of rectangles and half rounds.
