Igus offers self-adjusting polymer bearings. These polymer bearings are provided with a new pillow block bearing that can be completely split into two pieces. This bearing has somesignificant effects which include: since both parts of this lubrication-free bearing-namely, the plastic housing and spherical cap-can be separated immediately by hand, the user no longer has to feed the bearing along shafts over a distance of 1m or more; plastic pillow block bearing is available immediately ex-stock in shaft diameters of 40mm and 50mm. These polymer bearing finds its applications in:conveyor belts and materials handling systems and also other areas such as external blinds, swimming pool technology, sewage treatment plants or solar power plants. The new plastic pillow block bearings for high static loads are 5 times lighter than stainless steel bearings. However, unlike steel. These bearings are also capable of absorbing vibrations due to the two-piece structure because the rotating and oscillating movements of the shaft are dampened inside the spherical cap. The pillow blocks are dry running and are therefore maintenance-free.
