The Pale-Straw Coloured Tertiary Butyl Per Benzoate is a non-volatile sweet smelling liquid with a minimum purity of 98 percentage, the balance being mainly di-t-butyl peroxide. It gets yellow on exposure to sunlight which, however, is not detrimental to its performance. It is completely stable at room temperature. Although chemically inert, Tertiary Butyl Per Benzoate decomposes on contact with heavy metals and their salts, but the decomposition does not readily become vigorous. It is insoluble in water.
