Western electronic enterprise offers an apparatus for testing cables at low temperatures which consists of a mandrel of dia 6 mm with provision to clamp one end of cable with mandrel on both sides to test 2 specimens at time. On other end of cable specimen a load of 0.5 kg can be hanged on each side. The above system is housed in a deep freezer. The mandrel is rotated from outside with the help of reduction gearbox and a motor, with belt pulley drive to set the speed as required in code under practice. The deep freezer is double walled with inner chamber madeup of stainless steel and outer of thick pcrc sheet duly enamel painted. It has a temperature range from ambient to -20â°c, achieved by a hermetically sealed compressor.
