Programmable cam timers perform the duty of a number of single dial timers in cascade, with consequent saving in space and cost. Alteration to the required timed intervals can easily be achieved by inserting or removing the cam segments against direct reading scales. The mechanism is driven by a self starting synchronous motor to provide the opening and closing of a number of electrical circuits within the range of the instruments. The preset sequence can be repeated any number of times by the micros witches with respect to one another. Cam timers frequently operate in combination with delay timers and other control switches. Available in 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 and 15 ways, the time ranges from 10 seconds to 168 hours. Applications are in electrostatic precipitators, air dryers, vending machines, dish washing machines, surface treatment plants, food stuff industries, and other special purpose machines.
