Sandvik asia limited titex division has developed high performance drills for machining deeper holes with external coolant supply and drilling upto 5 xd without woodpecking. The conventional solid carbide drills without internal coolant which supply steel metal cutting in drilling depths of approx. 3xd. If the operation exceeds this standard depth it results in chip jamming accompanied by huge increase in drilling torque with consequence of frequent tool breakage and woodpecking and also the cutting edges are severely damaged with short tool life. The alpha[r] 2 tft can overcome these problems due to developed tinal[r] futura top coating based on well proven tinal[r] futura multilayer coating combined with surface treatment process. This process help in smoothing coating for excellent sliding properties between chips and flutes of the drills and thus enabling 5xd hole drilling with external coolant and without resorting to peck cycles. The company supplies the drills for machining deeper holes in 3 mm to 20 mm diameter range of standard cylindrical and whistle notch shank.
