Iron particles, which are separated using magnetic separator, are not 100 percent pure metal. They contain impurities in form of few sand particles due to rusted material. But it is possible to extract 95 to 100 percent pure metals from the waste products of a steel furnace in the following manner. When the materials from magnetic separator is passed through the ball mill drum, heavy-duty balls inside the drum grind the iron particles and the sand particles mixed with iron particles. Due to this continuous beating unneeded particles gets separated and comes out through the holes on the outer shell of the ball mill drum while the pure is left inside the drum.
