Coir geotextiles have the strength necessary to hold soil in place and prevent erosion. The coir mesh dissipates the force of heavy rains and run-off water. A range of different mesh mattings is available, meeting varying requirements. The lighter varieties of coir geotextiles are suitable for prompt erosion control in ordinary soil conditions. They can also be used over garbage dumps and mining rehabilitation areas. The heavier varieties can be used on embankments and slopes where there is none or very little vegetation.
