Andamans manufactures rubber wood, which is an eco friendly timber. Rubber wood is resistant to many fungal, bacterial and mould attacks and gluing is good and compatible with almost all industrial grade adhesives--its glue bond strength is high. Also rubberwood is easy to saw, machine, plane, turn and bore. The resultant surfaces are fairly smooth. The colour of this timber is pale cream to yellowish brown. Oxidative discolouration can be limited by rapid production sequence and vacuum drying. Andamans also manufactures plywood, parquet, etc.
