Speedfam [india], in technical collaboration with speedfam co of japan, provides a suitable single side lapping/ polishing machine model 12b mainly used for submersible pump applications. This single side lapping/ polishing machine manufactured with latest technology,.The model 12b machine with additional accessories like polish plates, forms the complete system for lapping and polishing of thrust bearings and thrust collars of submersible pumps to achieve a flatness of 1 to 2 microns, and surface finish of 0.1 to 0.3 ra. The machine is equipped with a 300 mm dia cast iron lap plate and four part holding rings to do initial lapping on thrust bearings and thrust collars. Subsequent polishing on the bearings is done by fixing the pad mounted polishing plate on the machine, and polishing on collars, by using cast iron polishing plate. At a time four parts of 100 mm dia each can be processed on the machine. The process time is approximately 30 minutes each for both thrust bearings and thrust collars.
