Serial Communications Line Isolator is designed to provide a high integrity approved M1 intrinsically safe interface between hazardous area apparatus and non-hazardous, safe area, apparatus such as surface monitoring equipment and SCADA systems. The Line Isolator ensures maximum operational safety by complete galvanic isolation by means of optical coupling inside the module. The Serial Communications Line Isolator has two segregated rows of connecting terminals, one for the non-intrinsically safe connections emanating from the safe area, and the top row for the connections that enter the hazardous area. Serial Communications Line Isolator is equipped with light emitting diode indicators on the front of the module to provide information about the status of the two incoming power supply sources and the module housing.
