Blue- Purple Coloured Haematoxylin is extracted from the wood of logwood tree and forms haematein, when it is oxidized. Haematoxylin is used with a suitable mordant to stain cell nuclei prior to examination under a microscope. Haematoxylin is offered in blue- purple coloured liquid form.
