Industrial Grade Ferro Silicon is an alloy of iron and silicon with between 15% and 90% silicon. Ferro Silicon contains a high proportion of iron silicides and also contains about 1 to 2% of calcium and aluminium. Ferro Silicon can be melted in a temperature range of about 1200 Degree C to 1250 Degree C with a boiling point of 2355 Degree C. Industrial Grade Ferro Silicon is used as a source of silicon to deoxidize steel and other ferrous alloys and this prevents the loss of carbon from the molten steel.
