The Wound Primary Type-WPL Current Transformer is available from 2.5/5 to 200/5 and the accuracy and the burden increases with increasing ratios. For higher ratios more than 200/5, the ring type current transformer is recommended due to its low cost. This type of WPL Current Transformer is suggested for CTS below 100/5 ratios, the accuracy of these CTS will be suffering due to its low ampere turns. This can be overcome by wound primary type CTS. This type of CTS comes under tape insulated and both side covered with HYLAM boards with primary and secondary windings.
