Product Profile of Multicore Flexible Cables

Multicore Flexible Cables are conforming to IS: 694:1990 and are suitable for Fixed Wiring & Flexible Operation. These cables are suitable for use on AC Single phase or three phase [Earthed or Unearthed] systems for rated voltage up to and including 1100 Volts. These cables may be used on D.C. Systems for rated voltage up to and including 1500 Volts earth.

The Construction and Properties of the cable is as under:-

• Conductor: Electrolytic Grade, Annealed, Flexible, Uniformly Bunched and compact, having uniform resistance and dimension conforming to IS: 8130:1984, Class-V.

• Insulation: Specially formulated, hi-grade PVC Compound capable of withstanding conductor temperature upto 700C. The insulation is resistance to moisture, oils, alkalies, grease etc. It has good dielectric properties, higher insulation resistance permanent colours etc.

• Color of insulation:- Cores are identified with a colour scheme as per IS:1554[Pt-I]:1988 as under
-2 Cores - Red & Black
-3 Cores - Red, Black & Green.
-4 Cores - Red, Yellow, Blue & Green.
-5 Cores - Red, Yellow, Blue, Black & Grey.

• The PVC covering over laid up cores or in case of single core is called "Sheath". As per IS: 694:1990, it should be ST1 type PVC Compound which comply as IS: 5831:1984. It should be suitable for 70 degree temperature operation. The outer sheath is applied with soft flexible PVC sheathing compound to facilitate not only easy stripping but also to ensure toughness to with stand mechanical abrasion while on use.
