- Salient features of the PVC Insulated and sheathed single core unarmoured and armoured cable with 1.4mm to 2.0mm insulation thickness:
- Conductor: Copper conductors are made from high conductivity Copper rods of 8 mm diameter. The rod is drawn to required sizes for the construction of conductors of different areas of cross section conforming to SS 6360. Conductors for Power Cables with cross sectional area of 25 sq.Mm. And above are stranded shaped conforming to Table 2 Class 2 of BS:6360.
- Insulation: PVC Compound is insulated over conductor by extrusion process with required thickness of insulation and conforms to BS:6346:1989.
- Identification of core colours: number of cores 1 for Red or Black, 2 for Red and Black, 3 for Red, Yellow and Blue and 4 for Red, Yellow, Blue and Black.
- Bedding: Single core armoured cables have extruded PVC bedding.
- Armouring: Single core cables for use on A.C systems, are armoured with single layer of aluminium wires.
- Oversheath: Sheaths are extruded with Black PVC compound of type TM 1 and comply with the requirements of BS 6746:1990. When specified anti termite properties can be provided on the sheath.
- Packing, storage and handling: Cables for power supplies are always packed in appropriate sizes of strong and seasoned wooden drums designed to withstand long distance transit and preservation in stores.
- Current ratings: Current ratings of cables installed in air and around buildings reference should be made to`Regulations for electrical installations` [IEE Wiring Regulations], 15th Edition and the current ratings of cables installed in other situations reference should be made to `Current rating standards for distribution cables`, ERA 69-30:Part Ill.

- Circular copper conductors, unarmoured: up to 10 mm overall diameter = 3D or above 10 mm and up to 25 mm overall diameter = 4D or above 25 mm overall diameter = 6D.
- Circular copper conductor armoured and Shaped copper conductors armoured or unarmoured: any overall diameter = 6D or any overall diameter = 8D
- Continuous operating temperature of conductor 70° C
- Ambient Temperature 50° C
- Depth of laying in ground 0.5 m
