These are also known as Catalyst Converter or Catalyst Exhaust Mufflers. They do not require addition of fuel additives or secondary fuel injection. • Oxidation takes place in lean exhaust

• Flow through system, particulate is not physically filtered out of exhaust

• Reduce PM by 30-50%; also reduce HC and CO [turn into CO2 and H2O]

• No reduction of the insoluble portion [soot]
