Industrial Purpose Reaction Turbines are extensively used in micro hydro projects. These Reaction Turbines are equipped with runner blades that are profiled such that pressure differences across them create lift forces which cause the runner to rotate. These Reaction Turbines rotate faster and can be directly coupled to an alternator without any speed increasing system like a belt drive. Industrial Purpose Reaction Turbines are also suitable for low heads.
