Normally, welding sets are kept continuously on, even when no welding is being carried out. During these periods, the welding transformer draws the magnetizing current or no load current, which is not doing useful work. The electronic saving unit detects these non-weld periods and switches off the power to the welding transformer after settable interval in between 2 and 40 seconds. When the operator just needs to touch the electrode to the material to be welded, the unit instantly starts the welding set.
