The schiavi laser system employs no turbine slab resonator manufactured by rofin sinar laser gmbh, hamburg, germany. The rofin sinar co** laser is diffusion-cooled and equipped with a radio frequency [rf] excitation system; this revolutionary new unit has significant advantages over traditional co** laser. It comprises:1.Laser beam; 2.Laser beam adapter; 3.Front mirror; 4.Refrigerant outlet; 5.Radio frequency excitation; 6.Refrigerant input; 7.Rear mirror; 8.Rf excitation discharge; and 9.Beam guide electrodes. The optical resonator is composed of a sealed system with two opposing mirrors [front and rear], and two parallel electrodes, which also act as beam guides. The laser gas is excited by radio frequency pulses. This effect is generated by two electrodes, which are diffusion-cooled to dissipate the heat generated in the gas. No turbine or blower unit is required to stabilize the system. The beam adapted module is integral to the laser head and generates a high quality, axially symmetric beam. Comparison with conventional co** laser systems: at the present time, the slab system is recognized to be higher performance and more cost effective than conventional co** systems. The following factors contribute to the system`s low running costs: no turbine, and hence no moving parts subject to wear; no laser gas supply system; drastic reduction of laser gas consumption; reduced lens service costs; reduced electrical power consumption [for example, due to the lack of a turbine]; reduced warm-up time when the system is switched on [5 minutes maximum]; and higher beam quality for its power class with factor k>0.9[optimal k=1], thus enabling high quality, high speed cutting.
