The kobold dvz series flow meters are particularly compact and inexpensive and can thus be optimally incorporated in all possible applications for low viscosity fluids. Since the units operate without any mechanical moving parts, they are practically maintenance-free and have distinct advantages compared with units based on the float or rotor principle. In contrast to calorimetric flow measurement, this measurement principle operates without time delays and can thus also be used in time-critical applications.
The vortex flow meter does not require any moving parts for measurement. A vortex path is built into the flow meter. For this a sharp-edged object is integrated into the flow channel as a baffle. Vortices are formed at the generator and are displaced from the baffle by the flowing media. The displacement frequency of the vortices is directly proportional to the speed of flow and the flow rate. The measurement process is suitable for practically all liquids with a viscosity similar to water - it is independent of the pressure, temperature, specific gravity and electrical conductivity of the medium.
Due to the special measuring process, the flow meters are on the one hand definitely good for the measurement of aggressive, corrosive or salty solutions, and the other hand they can also be used without problems for extremely pure media. Different variants of the dvz series cover measuring ranges up to 100 l/min. The unit can be equipped, by choice, with a fixed or swivel connection. Depending on the version a switched output [1a / 30vdc], a frequency output [open collector, pnp or npn] or an analogue output [4 - 20 ma] are available. Also available are programmable compact electronics which contain a digital display and a switch and analogue output.
This inexpensive flow meter is also excellently suited to oem applications as virtually any customer`s requirement can be met thanks to the modular construction.
Typical areas of application are monitoring the coolant for lasers, welding robots or induction heating.
