High voltage tester tests sets of higher voltage upto 600kv. The test sets upto 30kv are manufactured in air cooled design while the sets of 50kv & above are manufactured in oil cooled design. The following are its unique features:
1. output of high voltage testers is single phase 50/60hz.
2. high voltage breakdown tester is portable, sturdy & plug in to start type construction & requires minimum table space.
3. consists of 3 main sections which are high voltage transformer, variable voltage source & control circuit
4. high voltage transformer is single phase, single pole type & is of double wound resin moulded construction.
5. variable voltage supply is provided through a dimmer slat [variable auto-transformer] having a suitable rating corresponding to the rating of h.V. Transformer.
6. control circuit has a manually operated control transformer [variable auto-transformer] with zero interlock facility.
7. automatic tripping circuit is provided for isolation of supply, in the event of failure of the object under test.
