Mmc metal singapore has introduced three new grades of cbn inserts in various styles for both hardened steel and cast iron machining. Mb8025 is an all-purpose new cbn grade for hardened steels. The new mb8025 is a general-purpose sintered cbn grade that employs the new `particle -activated sintering method` and hence exhibits increased cutting edge strength with prevention of the fracture in the cutting edge. Using this method, an excellent wear resistance and fracture resistance can be obtained. Therefore, an mb8025 display double the tool life of conventional cbn grades and achieves stable performance. Mb8025 is standardized having a multi-corner type inflexible insert. Thus one insert employs a number of cutting edges, which results in a reduction in the cost per edge makes the insert very economical. Mb8025 is available with a wiper edge therefore making it ideal for use with high feed rates, which leads increases in machining efficiency as well as reduction in the machining time. Mbc010 adopts a ceramic binder; a new edge preparation and a coating that enables the insert operate on hardened steel [max 60 hrc] at 300m/min. Field tests have shown that a surface roughness is much lower than others. The new grade is an ideal for continuous cutting application. The mbs140 uses midgrain size cbn with special aluminium based binder enabling the product to be suited at high cutting speeds of 500-1000 m/min as well as ensures good surface finish.
