Dhruva automation & controls has introduced a new series of programmable logic controller [plc] from idec corporation, japan. The smartrelay series of plcs consists of a base unit and has expansion units. The plc also has built-in lcd display and real time clock [rtc]. The basic unit comes with 8 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs. Out of the 8 dl available on the base unit, 2 inputs can also be used as 0-10 v dc inputs. Each expansion module has 4 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs. The plc can handle maximum l/0s as: 24 dl, 16 do and 8 al. The unit can operate on 100-240 v ac/dc, 12/24 v dc and 24 v ac. Option of transistor or relay output is available. The plc can accept 2 inputs of 2 khz frequency. The built-in display can be used for accessing and modifying parameters and also for programming the plc in function blocks. The plc Can also be programmed through ladder logic via a computer. The microsmart series of plcs is a higher version. Here one gets base unit with various digital i/o combina- tions such as 6/4, 9/7, 14/10, 12/8 and 24/16. These can be Expanded further up to 288 l/0s with the help of various analogue and digital expansion modules. 32 different types of expansion modules are available offering a wide selection range. This plc also has add on hmi which can be Used for accessing and modifying various parameters, such as timers, counters, data registers, within the plc. The plc can handle high speed l/0s up to 20 khz. These plcs provide extremely cost effective solution for various applications of process and machine control such as like spms, conveyors, washing systems, amf controller, material handling, etc.
