Rheostats are mainly used for regulating electric current in industry and laboratory. These are used as adjustable resistors in electrical circuits. These ramson rheoststs are suitable for most arduous service and can be confidently specified for applications where variable control of electric energy by resistive means is required.

Ramson rheostats consists of resistance wire wound on a former that is made from solid drawn round insulated tubes ensuring great mechanical strength and sturdiness. The resistance wire is cupronickel alloy and oxidized to provide long time stability and insulation. The tube is fitted in two end castings insulated with micanite cups. The brush gear are highly polished slide rod. According to the customer`s requirements different designs like in single tube and double tube models are available. In many applications large value of resistance are required to be accommodated in small space but at the same time the current rating of the resistance varies from lowest to the highest values of the resistance. Available ramson tubular rheostats - standard sizes are single tube rheostat - 12 inches tube , 15 inches tube, 18 inches tube, four tube rheostats.

Ramsons rheoststs are used as shunt regulators for industrial application. These regulators are used for weakening of dc motor field for automatic speed control in the processing industry.
The standard range of 100/200-400/600- 800/1000 watts are available in single units, and in any higher capacity with ganged units. All the above can be supplied in hand operated type, motor operated type, chain and sprocket driven type or any other form as per customer`s specifications. These equipments can also be supplied in totally enclosed and open type models. Enclosures are powder-coated boxes with drip proof protection. Micro-switch with cam arrangement can be provided for setting the maximum and minimum operating limits.
