Stelmac manufactures outdoor vcb panel. Outdoor vacuum circuit breaker is ideal for use in switchyards and overhead networks in primary distribution systems. The breaker is suitable for all switching requirements of these networks including rapid auto-reclosing duty.
Construction
The construction is similar to conventional outdoor high voltage circuit breakers. The vacuum interrupters are housed in hollow porcelain insulators. Fig. 1 shows a pole assembly complete with support insulators. Three pole assemblies are mounted on a common drive chamber to have a ganged 3 pole operation. The drive chamber houses the common drive shaft. This shaft is connected to operating mechanism through a tie rod. The operating mechanism is housed in a mechanism box. The box is provided with the circuit breaker on and off indication, spring charged indication and operation counter. Control switches, fuses, indicating lamps, auxiliary relays for interlocking etc are provided as per specific requirement of a client. Terminal blocks for cabling are provided as per scheme requirement.
The mechanism is stored energy spring charged type. Switching operation can be performed electrically [locally or from remote] or manually. The breaker is provided with auxiliary switches for indication and interlocking purpose. The circuit-breaker is provided with terminal pads for direct termination of overhead lines on the breaker terminals.
The pole assemblies drive chamber and mechanism box are mounted on a common supporting steel structure. The structure is designed to provide adequate height for the live terminals / lines in line with clients / regulatory requirements.
The structure can be suitably extended to mount outdoor current transformers against specific requirement.
Standards
The vcb type vc 32 fully complies with the requirements of iec 62271 and is fully type tested at nabl accredited laboratories cpri and erda.
Maintenance
The circuit breakers type vc-32 is practically maintenance free. The little maintenance required relates to cleaning and lubricating of mechanism parts. The vacuum interrupters are suitable for over 10,000 operations and normally does not need replacement during the life span of a distribution circuit breaker. The interrupters are provided with the contact erosion mark for assessment of residual life.
